A few years back I determined to go through my kids Algebra book. I was not a great student, math was an area I avoided. We were muddling through, but I knew that we would have much better success in our class time if I had a more solid grasp on the concepts we were covering. The problem is; I am not a kid. I don’t have time for a full length math class. I still wanted a way to find out where the gaps in my knowledge were. This is where Math Refresher for Adults is awesome. It walks you through every concept a big math text book would, but in a single page spread. Refresh yourself quickly and get right to the stumpers.

 

You Will Touch on All Levels of Math Skills

The book literally begins with multi-digit addition and subtraction. Don’t laugh, the biggest problems I run are in my checkbook and we aren’t working with very many digits over here. If I am about to take the test for my future career or a degree, I am going to want to touch on all of the rusty places.

 

Skip Right to Your Trouble Spots

When I hit a part I was not sure about it was time to watch the Video Tutorial. There is one available for every lesson in their other books, including bonus ones for advanced algebra. The access details are right in the beginning of the book. Since we are on the early review team, the videos for Refresher for Adults aren’t up yet so, I checked out cooresponding videos from the high school books on the same subject. A quick tutorial was all I needed to be reminded of the facts I needed to complete the assignment. Formulas are provided in the lessons with samples.

 

Bonus Material I Can Use

The Appendix is full of math helps that are almost all of the things I have Googled over the last two school years. There is a full Math Resource Center and Glossary of terms. Symbols are defined and tables with helpful quick recall answers, like square roots and equivalent fractions. No more searching for a page I can print from the web, they are right in the back of the book.
