So many ways to share

A Message of Empowerment

A public figure I admired once shared some sage advice on choosing my blog topic. What can you talk for an hour about? I immediately knew that Homeschooling was the easy choice. I’ve been steeped in homeschool culture from my teen years. As parents, we’ve raised ten very different students while homeschooling.

Originally public schooled, I’ve experienced the strengths and weaknesses of parochial, private and gifted schools. Homeschooling was the hail mary, last hope for salvaging my education. My history as a struggling student has left me with a deep empathy for parents who are dealing with kids who are falling through the cracks of the current system.

I speak about the challenges of raising gifted kids and the freedom homeschooling can offer. I have several sessions about focusing on your children in homeschool planning, the dangers of comparison, and how a lack of accountability can derail a homeschool year.

This last year I spent a great deal of time speaking for online conferences with top homeschooling speakers. As part of the an online teaching community, I offered monthly teachings in FB Live format. I’ve also spoken at Homeschooling 101 events in the state of Iowa.
