The Door In The Wall; How Misdirection Keeps Us From Seeing God’s Hand

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this review or post, but all opinions are our own.

Illusionists understand the human capacity for misdirection.

They are counting on it. While we are looking at the hat, the rabbit is moving in spaces unseen, right before our very eyes. In our times of direct focus and intention we can miss action that reveals the trick.

Have you ever found yourself tricked, looking at the wrong pocket or the other hand during a card trick. In all probability you weren’t looking there on accident. It was exactly where the illusionist wanted you to be looking. The trick only works if you believe you are looking in the right place all along

Yesterday, I was caught looking at the wrong hand. There is a business purchase I am ready to make. The finances were all lined up nicely to cover it. I had one final hurdle to cross before I could click send. I had it all planned out. Offer ends in 12 hours and 47 minutes.

There I was, watching that hat.

Waiting for the rabbit to appear. In reached the white gloved hand and with a flourish, it came up with nothing.

It was a funny moment, suspended there in time. The answer was “No” there would be no job. There would be no budget for things I needed. My heart sank as I thought for an instant, that “No” was my final answer, but then in my heart, I knew I heard a resounding “Yes”.

In an instant I knew I was only looking at an empty hat and not looking to my source. God had me ready to make this purchase not because I had a job lined up to pay for it, but because I was going to need one. He already knew and set a plan that was even better into motion.

[Tweet “Misdirection is the tool of the enemy of our soul”]

I heard that David Copperfield stole the Statue of Liberty.

(ok, I just lost 20 minutes to youtube research, he did and the early 90’s was amazing) If Mr. Copperfield convinced all of New Yorker that their national symbol was gone, how much more will the enemy of our soul make disappear; our joy, and our peace. The trick is that it is not gone at all, his tactic is to simply obscure our view. With slight of hand and misdirection our attention is turned away from the plan of God, all while it is in plain sight before us.

If I have learned one thing on this journey of life it’s that I can; without a doubt, trust that God has a good purpose for me. In every circumstance He has provided for me in ways that were above and beyond what I expected. It is not that He uses the source I think He should. I’ve learned to trust Him, just like I trust my husband. Next time life throws up a wall, stop and listen to what God has to say about it. What I thought I was going to do on my own, my husband and I are doing together and it will be even better that I had thought.

Are you trying to be your own source of joy, happiness, contentment?

Even harder, are you trying to be everyone else source of peace and hope? Stop following the illusion and seek the true source for hope and peace. Every thing I have ever needed I have found in Him. Even toddler shoes and Buzz Lightyear, but that is another story.

The good news is that I did make a purchase for my business. Where I saw a wall, God had place a door. Now, I can offer a course I know will help Homeschool Moms have their best year ever without changing out your kids or curriculums.

We are key to homeschool success, yes, us Moms.

The six part series covers: showing love uniquely, comparison traps, the power of our influence as Homeschooling Parents, the gift of flexibility and the importance of community. Included are many true examples from which I share where these things caught me off guard and how we have grow through them over the last 13 years of teaching at home. You don’t have to learn over the next 13 years, subscribe and get them in your email at home. If you subscribe to 200fingersandtoes you will get my posts for the series free every Monday as I introduce them. I am looking forward to sharing with you and getting your input.
