I just met Beth Moore

Not in real life, sorry.

I just began my first Moore bible study. Last week was the first video in the series and I left thinking it was ok. Normally I am for skipping the video because in most DVD/book formats the video material is redundant to the reading. I usually do my reading and feel like it is a waste of good discussion time.

All that is untrue for this study. Week one was barely an introduction because, after week two’s video, I get why everyone loves this woman. She is dynamic, without all the rah-rah super sweetness that sometimes comes with a speaker/minister. She did nothing to distract from the volume of word she was able to mine out of the first 10 verses in Thessalonians.

Children of the Day, is the latest study from Moore, covering the whole of first and second Thessalonians. Moore covered the tumultuous circumstances that led to Paul’s new travel companions. There was an event in the life of Paul that caused he and Barnabas to split ways. Going different directions, after a much heated argument does not sound like the beginning of a powerful ministry, but the church at Thessalonica was a lasting treasure in the Kingdom of God and a testament to rocky starts.

[Tweet “Beginnings come in all types. Some are fresh starts, and some are fresh wounds, but God has a plan to use both for His glory and your future “]

Growth is the the hoped for result in every experience that comes to us. Without change driving us we can grow stagnant. Are you feeling the tug for something bigger in life. We resist change. We ignore the nudges that are nagging us to make a move. We could be missing the very best God has for us. Sometimes change is a devastating blow, the carpet is pulled out from under us and we look to God because only He has the power to sustain us through the storm. Sustain us, He does. Strengthen us, He will. He will build a kingdom from the wreckage of our plans if we will allow Him. He did it in the life of Paul and He will do it in yours and mine if we put our life in Him as well.

I can’t wait to get to know Beth Moore better through this study, and hopefully more in the future. I think there were quite a few free books by Beth on Kindle a while back, looks like I might need to check out my own library.
